Tampa deep sea fishing fun

Our Tampa fishing charters have been on fire with deep sea fishing action. Trolling wrecks and reefs has produced non-stop action from Barracudas, Bonitos, Spanish mackerel and the list goes on. We ran our normal routine on Saturday's fishing charter from St.Pete beach, hitting as many local reefs as we could in the time that we had. It paid off with lots of toothy creatures coming boatside.

The St.Pete reef and Betty Rose were exceptionally productive with the mackerel, both big and small. Getting a whole fish to the boat was a challenge but we managed a dozen or so to the ice box before the Barracudas got them. After having a large fish bite thru the wire leader on one rig, Mike caught this hefty Bonito on another...and it gave him a work-out. Pound for pound, Bonitos fight harder than most fish that we troll for on our deep sea fishing charters in Tampa Bay and St.Petersburg

Bottom fishing for grouper paid off as well. Although the summer heat made it difficult, we manged to fool lots of Gag and Red grouper to the boat, even a couple for the box. Mike was the angler of the day, but Maryanne slayed a goliath Triggerfish that, in my opinion, makes better table fare than most. With the help from Russell, Becka and Ray, this crew definetly brought home the groceries.

The summer heat has really turned on. Drink lots of water on your fishing outings and use sunscreen. Usually by the time you feel dehydration coming on-it's too late! Also, keep an eye on the weather...summer storms in Florida can be violent, especially on the water. Be safe, stay cool and call Jawbreaker fishing charters for your next fishing trip. Happy fishing to ya, Capt.Dan
