Tampa Bays best deepsea fishing

Deepsea fishing in the Tampa Bay waters and Gulf of Mexico remains hot. I had the pleasure of bringing some family members out for some rod bending action this past Sunday. My cousins Pat, Corey, Josh, J.J., Ed and my brother-in-law, Darryl, were all pumped up for a tussle with a Barracuda. I figured I would start out in our normal honey-holes...and I figured right!

We approached the St.Pete reef to find the birds working the water pretty good. As soon as our lines hit the water we were catching Spanish mackerel in the 3 pound range, and of course...many of the 'macks' were coming without their running gear. It is very common to see the Barracudas tearing the mackerel in half as you reel them to the boat. Oh well, it's good for a show anyway. We did manage one Barracuda to the boat before we headed to deeper water...check out cousin Josh above with his biggest fish ever! Oooh Barracuda!!!...

The Betty Rose and South county reefs are just a short move from the St.Pete reef, and, these spots usually produce better as well. Once again, the fish were very cooperative from the get-go. To my amazement, we also had the whole reef to ourselves. Usually these 'public' fishing spots attract lots of boats, especially on the weekend. Well, we enjoyed non-stop action with J.J. and Corey each bringing 2 more Barracuda to the boat before we sampled a little bottom fishing. Unfortunately, the bottom bite was very slow for us with the ripping currents that we experienced all day.

Even though our fishing trip was a short one, it was a success! As a matter of fact, just being able to hang with family that I have not seen in many, many years was a joy in itself. Whether the fishing is on fire or slow...Jawbreaker fishing charters is going to make you feel like family too, it's what we do! Book your next Tampa Bay fishing charter now and join the family! Happy fishing to ya, Capt.Dan
