StPete Florida fishing charter report

Kingfish are still roaming the Tampa Bay waters and the Gulf of Mexico, just off St.Pete beach. Most of the King mackerel, however, were smaller than the Spanish mackerel. Check out our new friend, Nathan Mayer, with his first Gulf of Mexico mackerel. Nate is a guy with priorities. He and his father, Gary, friend Kyle and his dad, Steve, came all the way from Wisconsin to go charter fishing on the Jawbreaker....oh, that and Nate is getting married at the Sirata on St.Pete beach.

Trolling provided lots af action on this fishing trip out of Pass-a-grille, compared to Sunday's trip. We had multiple hook-ups with Kingfish, Spanish mackerel, Bonito and Barracuda. Most fish were eaten by the toothy 'Cudas on their way to the boat....this kind of action always makes a great show for our charter clients.

After a couple of hours of trolling action, we decided to try some Grouper and snapper fishing in about 50 feet of water. As soon as we were anchored we are visited by a school of Mahi-Mahi....wow what a beautiful fish. Of course we were not ready for them, although we did hook into one on the flatline a little later. These fish when seen this close to the West coast of Florida are usually refered to as 'peanuts', because of their small size. Anyway, it was a fishing trip with lots of different species to be seen and caught.

Do like the Mayers did, if you are coming to the West coast of Florida for any reason, be sure to book a fishing charter out of St.Petersburg with Jawbreaker fishing charters. Charter fishing is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you will get. Happy fishing to Ya! Capt.Dan
