Grouper digging with the Morgans

Grouper fishing paid off for Paul Morgan on Sunday's fishing charter out of Pass-a-grille on St.Pete beach. This was a birthday fishing trip for Chris Morgan, compliments of his brother Alex and father, Paul...and a couple of good friends. These guys were ready for a great day on the water, and that it was.

Trolling the Betty Rose and South County reef produced lots of action from Spanish mackerel, Yellowtail jacks, Bonitos and of course the Barracuda were there for a free meal. With the heat of Summer underway the Barracudas should be on most wrecks and reefs offshore the Tampa beaches. Skipping a fresh mackerel or a blue runner on a stinger rig behind the boat usually does the trick.

We made our way out to 60' of water to find the Grouper bite. The Gag and Red grouper were ready and willing to eat anything we threw at them. Check out Paul Morgan above with his biggest Grouper ever. This fish ate a big grunt head and got Paul into the rocks and busted the leader...darn it!!! We gave Paul another rod and another grunt head, five minutes later he catches the same fish with his broken leader and hook still in the grouper's mouth. Way to go Paul!

If you want to give somebody a special birthday gift, you can't go wrong with a Jawbreaker fishing charter. Call us today and book a fishing trip out of Tampa Bay and St.Petersburg beach. By the way, Happy birthday Chris! and Happy fishing to ya!Capt. Dan
