Birthday bonus fish on St Pete Beach

Well they're back again, and ready for action, fishing for the big ones in the Tampa Bay area with Jawbreaker fishing charters. A birthday fishing trip for Dave, and although this is probably fishing trip number 6 or 7 with Dave Walker and crew, “this was by far the best”, their words. Yep, Dave, Wendy, Alex, Madeline and Meredith all saddled up for another adventurous day on the Gulf of Mexico, and adventurous it was.

The day started with very little action on the Spanish mackerel front so we quickly moved on to King fish territory. After several hits and misses, we finally had a decent fish on the line, that was until a 300 pound Bull shark decided it was breakfast time and all we got out of the deal was the head of a 25 pound Kingfish...oh well, I guess the food chain is in full effect too! After a couple of giant Spanish made their way to us, it was time to move on, I just wasn't feeling it.

Moving on to the bottom fishing scene proved to be rewarding though, with very quality sized Gag and Red Groupers making their way to the ice. And, of course, we always have to include a bonus fish..and this week's winner is...Cobia! Wendy hooked into a smaller fish and when it came to the top, like Cobia are known for, about 20 more came up with it. The biggest in the group was mistaken for a shark at first, probably weighing in the 90-100 pound class...Wow! We missed the big boy but did manage to entice his smaller cousin. Check out the Walkers with this year's fishing charter highlight, a 30 plus pound Cobia, great job folks!!.. And the 'birthday fish' was delicious, thanks again! Groupers, Snappers, mackerel, Flounder and Cobia,...Yum!

Repeat clients turned friends, referrals becoming part of the team or newcomers finding out that there are still businesses that care about providing excellent service..we are Jawbreaker fishing charters and we appreciate each and every one of you. Happy Thanksgiving and have a safe and happy holiday season folks. Capt.Dan
