Big fish action on the West coast of Florida

Fishing on Florida's West coast in the Gulf of Mexico has so much to offer right now. Monday's fishing charter out of St.Pete beach provided non-stop fishing action all day long. Fishing for Kingfish remains hot in almost any depth from St.Pete beach to Clearwater beach, and offshore. Look for the gulls working bait schools on the surface and there are sure to be Kingfish nearby. We landed 2 nice Kings in the 20# range using threadfin for bait.

The Gag and Red grouper are on the move to deeper offshore waters in the Gulf. Although some keeper size fish are being landed in the 50ft. depths, most of the grouper action can be found in 80ft. and beyond. We were surprised when we reached one spot in 85 feet of water....Amberjack, and lots of them! Usually found on the offshore shipwrecks in the Gulf of Mexico, these hard-fighting monsters will give you your money's worth of rod bending action. We managed to land a couple of nice AJs in the 30# range and released a dozen undersize fish.

Check out the crew above with their haul of fresh fish from an all-day offshore fishing trip on Florida's West coast. Grouper, Snapper, Kingfish, Amberjack and more! Despite the news of the Gulf oil spill, we have not seen one sign of this terrible mess in or near the waters of Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater. The water has never been so vibrant with life and the weather here in Florida is nothing but sunny and warm.

If you are thinking about a summer vacation to sunny Florida, now is the time to book your trip. Don't listen to the news....call Jawbreaker fishing charters for a real-time report of what to expect, both on the water and off! Visit Tampa, Florida..drive out to St.Pete beach, call 727-432-0422 and book an offshore deep sea fishing with the Jawbreaker. Happy fishing to ya! Capt. Dan
