A farewell to Kings

Catching big King fish is just something we do on the Jawbreaker, and our clients were more than excited about this bad boy, but I still scratch my head and say, 'why not on tournament day?' The King fish pictured above would certainly turn some heads at any local King fish weigh-in, and probably pay a hefty sum in winnings too.

Rich Greene and his happy crew were ready to just spend a relaxing morning on the boat and bask in the beautiful weather that we experience nearly everyday here on the West Central Coast of Florida. Brad and I had other plans. We have had a banner year catching King fish for our charters, and then some. With the Fall King fish run coming to an end we knew today might be our last shot at a late season slob-and we got it!

After jiggling up several dozen Threadfins and Blue Runners and running up the beach to our new 'honey' hole, it was game on from the get go. Starting out draggging hardware was a great way to warm up the crew and get some vittles in the box and the Spannys were large and many. After about 20 fish in the ice slurry it was time to best a beast and live baits were readily deployed, and 5 minutes in to it we had a beast indeed. Check out our lucky ladies after a 25 minute battle with their new trophy..tight work gals!

Another great memory in the bag and as Winter approaches we bid another farewell to Kings. Happy fishing folks, Capt.Dan
