About Jawbreaker Fishing Inc.
Hey folks, Captain Dan Barry here. Fishing has always been a passion of mine. Charter fishing, however, is an addiction. Jawbreaker Fishing Charters Inc. was started as a direct result of this "fishing addiction". To me, there is nothing better than making people smile, except perhaps when teaching someone how to fish. Bring your kids, bring your parents, bring your grandparents...we cater to all, and take pride in it! Besides offering a fun, family oriented atmosphere, Jawbreaker Fishing Charters also has decades of fishing experience and knowledge to share with our clients. Book a fishing charter with us and rest assured that you will be in good hands. Our list of repeat customers can't be wrong, and the list keeps getting longer.
Growing up in the Tampa Bay area was a blessing. Originally from Syracuse, N.Y., my folks moved our family to St. Petersburg, FL in 1976. Of course that would be the first time in history that the Tampa/St.Pete area experienced snow. Let's just say that Mother nature does have a sense of humor. Well, Mom and Dad took the joke well and I took to the beaches. My first experiences fishing as a teen was Shark fishing almost any and every beach on the West Central Coast of Florida which included St. Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille, John's Pass, Madeira Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Redington Shores, Sand Key, Honeymoon Island and Anclote...just to name a few! This is where I grew up, fishing for Sharks and everything else with a set of fins.
As a young adult, I was lucky enough to earn a spot on a friend's fishing boat and rapidly became addicted to near-shore and offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay waters. A few years later I bought my first offshore fishing boat, she was already named the "Tracey M", and for personal reasons, it was perfect. This was a real fishing machine, a 27ft. open fisherman with a hard-top, and bunks below, perfect for those overnight snapper trips.
Well, I spent the next 5 years or so entertaining friends and family on our offshore fishing adventures. This is where my addiction to charter fishing really took hold. After years of many first-time experiences on our own boat, it was time. Catching our first Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Blackfin Tuna and tournament winning Kingfish of 39lbs. put me over the edge. The time had come indeed.
I obtained my U.S.C.G. Captains license in 1999. The security of a weekly paycheck kept me in the tooling and mold-making business, not to mention that the folks I worked for, for 7 years, had become like family to me. Either way, I could no longer ignore the call to charter fishing much longer, all I needed was a bigger boat. In 2003, that boat found me, and two months later she was mine. I said good bye to the machine shop and started living the dream!
Jawbreaker Fishing Charters Inc. has been a top quality, full-time charter service since 2003. We are dedicated to making great memories with new friends. Call today and come live the dream with us!
Thanks, and happy fishing to ya!
