As I shake off the after-effects of a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica, with my beautiful wife, I am still dazzled by last Saturday's fishing charter with John Labrie and crew. I can say with confidence that JP, and his Dad, John, were fishermen. Talk about competition, check them out with a pair of keeper-size Gag Grouper, literally caught back-to-back. Way to go boys! Brooksville, Florida breeds some fishing and hunting fans for sure!
We started out at the St.Pete reef trolling for some Spanish mackerel...big ones go in the fish box, bigger ones get deployed as bait!!..And the Barracudas were loving them. These hungry predators were sky-rocketing the 'macks' with both guns blazing...and our crew was loving every minute of the battle. A bit further out, at the 10 Fathom Wreck, and we were into the same scenario, with a few Bonitos here and there. If catching a Barracuda is on your 'bucket list', now is the time, these meat eating machines will be on their way with the cooler waters of Fall approaching. But have no fear, this only means that the Kingfish are on their way.
