Tampa Bay Grouper catching

Grouper fishing in the Tampa Bay region is on fire! Today’s fishing charter out of Pass-a-grille on St.Pete beach was a true success. We were able to host, once again, the crew from West Tampa Glass Co. and it was, once again, a great trip! Being repeat clients on the Jawbreaker, these guys are keen to the ways of the feisty Gag grouper.

 The wind was strong, the surf was elevated and these guys had one thing in mind…Grouper! From the first stick on the anchor we were into the Gags like nobody’s business. Fran caught the first fish of the day, followed by Larry and then Dave for the ‘hat trick’. Way to go boys! This action went on for awhile but slowly tapered off as the tide picked up…? Go figure.

 All-in-all the fishing was good. Everyone put a nice Gag grouper in the box, as well as a few decent snapper and porgies. Jon Carrol and his crew will be able to talk about their offshore adventures over a Grouper-Snapper fish fry. Check out Jon with a prime specimen of a Gag grouper.(pic above)
