More big Gag Grouper on a 4 hour fishing charter

Grouper fishing in the Tampa Bay area is still on fire. Jawbreaker fishing charters was able to host a multi-boat, corporate fishing trip out of St.Pete Beach on Wednesday, and things went well! Even though the wind was light, the seas were still a little choppy from the hard blow that we experienced for several days prior. This did not bother our crew...or the fish!

We left Pass-a-grille pass on St.Pete Beach at about 1pm and were instantly greeted by a myriad of bird species scanning the nearshore waters of the Gulf. How these birds can see into the murky water and spot the baitfish 20 feet below the surface is beyond me, but they can, and they are my indicator that there may also be predator fish in the mix as well. I decided to troll some big clark spoons through the bait stacks in hopes of catching a few Spanish mackerel, but, no luck here. We moved out about 2 miles and the same scenario, except this time we fooled one big mack and the weeds made it daunting to troll...so, grouper fishing it is.

This time of year is nice for grouper fishing in the Gulf of Mexico because most of the big Gags are found nearshore(0-7 miles out) as opposed to the deeper, offshore waters. We anchored up in 32 feet on our first stop and were into the Gag and Red Grouper as soon as our baits got to the bottom. Usually it takes awhile for the fish to get in the groove when the water temps dip down, but not today. These fish were hungry, and so were our anglers. Check out our new friend John(above) with his new dinner date....a solid 15 pound Florida Gag Grouper!!... One of several nice gags that made the trip home with us.

Make your next corporate outing with Jawbreaker fishing charters. We cater to the inexperienced and the pros alike. All of our fishing charters come with one-on-one instruction on how to land the big one. Call today and get in on the Gag Grouper fishing in the St.Pete beach area while you can. Happy fishing to ya, Capt.Dan
