Happy Lu Year

That's right, Jawbreaker fishing charters brought in the new year with some really fine folks from the great white North. John Lu, wife Julie and young boys Timothy, Gregory and Jeffrey came all the way from Ontario, Canada to get in on some bottom fishing action in the Gulf of Mexico and the bite was on!

I could tell from the very beginning that this would be a fun trip. 5 people from a totally different environment enjoying the warm Florida sunshine, 3 of them being young boys just eager to play with Mother Nature. These kids were so intrigued just catching baitfish and I knew we would have our hands full. As soon as we got into some fishing action it felt more like being at the circus rather than a busy boat deck. Sardines and Squid pieces were flying everywhere, Groupers and Snappers were making their way over the rail and into the fish box...and “Jeffrey!!!...” was the word of the day. This kid was hotter than a barrel of fire and pretty much required his own, personal, 'first mate'. When the grunts are hungry and you have a 6 year-old on board...simple, break out the double-hook chicken rig and let em go. Young Gregory and Timothy were quite busy as well, catching the 'endangered' Gags as fast as we could re-bait their hooks. There it is, my idea of ringing in the New Year. Being on the water with new friends who know how to enjoy life! Thanks to the Lu family for a great intro to 2012. Happy New Year and happy fishing, Capt.Dan
